Hey, Hi, Hello....so I’ll get straight to the point, 2 years ago i was a CSM at Walmart, i overrode or authorized a fraudulent return and i was Charged with misdemeanor embezzlement. BIGGEST mistake of my life because ever since then my life has been unstable, hard lesson learned. So i was going to go with swift in Texas and they accepted my background however because i put that i smoked just a year ago (me being honest) she quickly denied me. I have passed at least 4 drug tests this year alone so i was really shocked and disappointed. So now I’m left looking confused. Do you guys & girls know of any CDL training here in Texas that would accept my criminal background? I am Aiming to get started on Jan 8, 2018 if it’s possible at all. Thanks in advance for the positive & negative feedback .

Short term memory loss...tell them what they want to hear..hopefully you didn't use intelliapp so all the companies see your honesty...

I did use intelliapp, however i removed the drug question part and put something like 2015 after swift denied me. I know C.R. England called me, they stated that i can work for them in 2019. My charged blocked me for 4 years -.-

If you have flashbacks and think you can fly, that’s a big risk.

Stealing is one thing the Industry will not tolerate. No one is going to just hand a 150K tractor, a 50K trailer and goods worth up to a million or 25 in value. Drug use just makes it even worse as there is even less tolerance.

Now that the clubbing is finished, you will spend some years before getting hired when your record cools a little bit. Emphasis on a little bit.

If you possess a CDL you might find a work around running a dump truck for less than stellar outfit who does not really check into your past and if very careful you will spend a few productive years with that dump and then maybe move up to OTR. But again it is what it is.

Maybe you might find a no name brand OTR outfit that is somewhat shady and runs hard and loose with the HOS etc. These are not really worried about your past. At the same time you should not risk your license with these kinds of companies.

I don't know what to tell you, there is even the potential that canada will be closed to you should you try to join a company that goes there.

There is one thing if anything positive at all, time heals the worst of crimes given enough of it to pass by. You might have to find something else to do until then.

Apply to some more companies and don't snitch on yourself. Thousands of drivers have been less than forthcoming on their job applications and now drive. Honestly is not always the best policy. Companies even try to trick drivers into admitting to things after you're hired, then fire them because they didn't admit to something on the initial job interview. Mainly, they try to trick a driver into admitting he/she smoked weed in the past.
Also, apply for free cdl training through the Texas WIOA Program; Google for information on that.
Your criminal record won't stop you from being hired in trucking, but snitching on yourself for smoking a joint decades ago will.
Don't make any phone calls, just do some more job applications and wait for them to call you. Write down exactly what you put on the applications so you won't make the mistake of saying something during a phone call, that doesn't match what is on the application. Some companies make you fill out another application during orientation, then compare it with your first application to make sure both applications are exactly the same.
Submitt an app with Millis Transfer as an experiment and see if they accept you. They hire ex-cons and others with criminal backgrounds. So does Contract Freighters Inc. on a case by case basis.
