I need some inside info on Versa Cold from Owner Operators who are currently running with them or the Company Drivers. I'm planning to put a truck with them on a Dedicated run. Would like to know the environment miles per month and there dispatch etc. Please help if you can.

    Thanks

    Hey are you in Calgary?

I was looking into going Company with them, and O/O later on; but I got a better offer. Are you dealing with Paul Mann?

Paul is a good guy, he was at Bison just before I was, but most of my friends and trainers know him well. Everyone says he is a stand-up guy, and isn't your typical recruiter.

As far as Versa Cold goes, if you wanna do reefer in Canada/US, they are one of the best ways to go (ERB would be the best way to go). They seem to have a lot of pull, so you don't get jerked around 1/2 as much when dealing with produce sheds or cold storage warehouses. You always get paid, they have the E-logs thing dialed in, their fuel and tire/shop discounts are good. The only downside, is it is a huge company, so expect safety up the ###; and lots of office people getting involved in #### they know nothing about. However, I have done reefer with other companies, and its a nightmare compared to how Versa Cold does it. The dedicated run is also sweet, because you are usually going between two Versa Cold facilities. So with Versa Cold on the side of your truck, you will have priority.

That's what I gathered from my research, and talking to other drivers who do reefer. I keep in touch with Paul, and keep Versa Cold as a plan B.

The only thing to watch out for, is never get involved with the CPX side of the business.

Good luck dude, that is a money maker run! No screwing around, just turn and burn. The way I see it, is Versa Cold is pretty much a private fleet. So everything is dedicated and well planned; none of this open board nonsense. Their facilities are also nice IMHO, so I think you will enjoy it. Just don't let the office people get to you. I know its a pain in the ###, and I've seen a lot of guys throw away good jobs at bigger companies over it.

Huh... who knew? And Gary Heer too.

I was leased on to CPX quite a few years ago and I looked at Gary Heer a few years after.

They used to be really good, now their a bunch of ######## from south america. One of my buddies at Bison was with them for almost 8 years, based in Calgary. He said its gone the way of CNTL, only with way more crashes. I know on my Hwy 1/3 routes, it was just constant CPX Kamikaze Driving and Carnage.
