Whatever Eaton 12 speed they mate up to the 2015 Crapcadia. It has the shift stalk on the steering column. It should come with a blank last will and testament before you drive it.

It's Not an Eaton transmission. It's a Daimler product.

Oh, ok. That’s news to me. I have only driven the newer Freightliner autos a few times. I assumed it was Eaton since that’s what we usually run. We have the Eaton with the ISX in our Pete’s. Thanks for clarifying.

My friend said his 2016 Peterbilt with the Eaton did the same thing to him turning into the truck stop at Matthews Missouri. Once he turned it off and on again it started acting normal, but it death crawled into the truck stop for no reason.

Was this a rolling stop? I can tell you, the DT12's one drawback is figuring out what gear to be in when negotiating a rolling stop, especially if it's in colder temperatures. Mine does that as a 2017, although I think I've heard from my coworkers that the shifting is improved on the 2018's. I suppose one truck would be getting used to putting it in manual mode for the corner, and once it has it's footing, then switch back to autoshift.

I had unloaded and had the truck turned off for about thirty minutes. I was in automatic from the time I left til about five minutes later when I came to the Hwy 43 intersection. I came to a complete stop. Looked left and right, then made my left turn. It started out normal, then halfway through the turn it just basically coasted at 2 mph. I let the little momentum I had take me to the shoulder since it wouldn’t respond to throttle input or trying to switch to manual.

All day long had correctly upshifted and downshifted.I probably came to a stop 15 times during the day and each time it worked flawlessly. It’s just this one time it glitches in the worst possible time and could have been ugly. Terrain all day was flat, 380 miles up to this point, all 15k or less in the trailer, and the temperature was low 70s. It didn’t fault out, didn’t show any signs of mechanical issues, just a momentary lapse.

The DD 12 speed auto isn't perfect. During training at a light that turned green I stepped on the gas and the only thing that happened was the trainer turned and asked me why I wasn't going. I said you're truck is crap. He said oh yea, it does that sometimes. LOL

Yes, even the 2018 hardware will do this. If you slow to below 2 mph while approaching a light, you better just go ahead and stop because about half the time if you don't it will hold in neutral if you apply a little throttle in the 1-2 mph phase, just prior to a complete stop.

I'm not a big fan of the first auto I'm currently in (dd-12) but it has some other associated advantages that make it tolerable. And I still don't get why people just LOOOOVE the auto in stop/go traffic. I actually would rather do stop/go traffic in a stick for added smoothness and consistency. ["Old dog" here, I guess]

I don't know, but I gotta tell you, the current generation Detroit/auto combination and it's use of high rpms when braking on steeper inclines is pretty sweet and will certainly brake far better at 2,000 then it will at 1,500. If the engine manufacturer is okay with it, then I'm okay with it. But you just need to be aware of what it might potentially do (downshift 2+ gears) when you really would rather it not downshift that much (as in on slick roads) and don't put yourself in a position where it might do that.

Automatic guys - "My transmission is so tech. Great milage. State of the art, really. "

Manual guys. - "When I put my transmission in gear it goes in gear. When I let out the clutch the truck always moves. I don't have the problems you automatic guys have. "

Automatic guys. - "Well, did you hit Ctr-Alt-Delete, re-boot the system, download the latest app. from the cloud, contact the mothership, count to 10, and try again."

Manual guys. - "Screw you, I have freight to deliver."
