they will say its acceptable cummins did this a while back they had a TSB saying that 2011 to 2013 single cam isx could consume up to 5 gal every15000 they had it broken down in quarts but same when doing math, first thing i would like to know, idle time if there is any or not, truck will still consume some oil on idle, second any leaks you noticing, third what is the mileage on this truck there is a break in period that it could potentially use some oil, it shouldn't do it but with only a gallon every 20000 they will tell you top off is normal, the last thing i would suggest is change the oil one time and put actual gallons in there that you buy from a walmart or sams and see if it does the same i have had a few customers change the oil around speedco and all and then change it one time with known top additive oil and no more issues. it also depends on oil what oil r u using.
