Oh and PA are less money than ND and West Texas. I know Gemini will hire straight out of school. But not sure of who else besides Halliburton. I've heard of all kinds of companies were hiring during the boom. But now that it's picking up. I'm sure a new driver won't have too hard of a time trying to find a job

Rent is very high in the oil fields. I almost went out there myself.

Have you pulled tanks for Superior or done linehaul for OD? If so, what's the deal on the load board for new hires?

Depends on what you get hired on for. I am a five day bag. Leave Satuday and get back Thursday . I live a hour out. Have several friends that live 3 hours out. So I do not want to be home but once a week .

Rent in the oilfields? Why would someone rent a place there? I've done LTL for three different carriers. None were for ODFL but the load board works the same as some other carriers. And sometime it's different. Some companies have set runs that drivers bid on maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Other companies strictly go off of senority on the load board. And it can suck being the low man because you will get the stuff no one else wants.

And no I've never pulled for sc and never will.

@haz-matguru Are there any companies in the Odessa / Midland area you would recommend for a new driver that wants to get into tankers and make decent money? This is a career change for a person with a stable working background, if that matters.

    Targa Resources
    Detmar logistics
    Catalyst
    E&H

There are several vac tank companies. But that's the low level paying job if you ask me.

The mid level would be the sand hauling companies.

And the highest are the hazmat jobs. Pioneer Natural resources is another company, but they have cameras in the trk.

There are a lot of companies in that area that are fly by night outfits. And there are some well established carriers there too. It would be best to research them. Or it would be great to know someone out there.

My partner makes abt 3200 take home p/wk
