hello, I have been researching on here for a while and have a question.

Has ayone gone through the Millis driving program and then failed their State test for their license? I was wondering what would happen, would millis allow you take it again or would they cut you? It seems it may be pretty tough here in MD since their course is so small at the DMV. A 53' trailer and sleeper cab could be really tight.

If i decide to go this route I don't think I would fail but I was at the DMV the other day and there was a guy testing in a day cab and short trailer who bumped the curb on his parallel park and they failed him.

I am enrolled in a class here that starts in Jan 09 and trying to take the best route. I like what I have read about Millis and feel they would be a good fit for me. I also like crete but my school isn't on their list of approved schools although it probably should be due to it being 300 hours of instruction.

yeah a 53 would be really tight. The school i went to used 48 foot trailers.

you mightg be better off going to a local school that does teh dmv offsite testing program, that what i did. Didnt regret it and it was nice to know exactly what would be on the dmv test, and be able to practice it each day.

bigpapa, where did you go. I didn't realize you could test off site. I really want to work for millis but don't want to have to get my license through them. I would much prefer to have my license before I go to millis.

If you are from MD you know what I am talking about with the DMV course. LOL

8nbait, I'm not to from you and am looking to get my CDL through Hagerstown Community College. Just curious any reason why you didn't go through them? John

John, I am enrolled in HCC's january class but I am looking at other alternatives. I spoke with janie and I can get out of the class and get a refund any time before the class starts. I liked what millis had to offer but I didn't want to get my cdl from HCC at $3000 then pay millis $500.
I am looking at Roehl now, you have to pay for your stay and license, about $600 upfront and finance the rest. You won't have to repay the loan if you drive 120,000 or so miles for them. The total cost is alot less than the HCC option. Problem with millis is I have heard they don't keep all the students after they get their license then the student must repay the loan.
The main reason I am searching is I don't want to quit after getting a year of experience. I would like to find a good company first and stick with them for many years. It may not work out that way but I hope so.
I just submitted an application with Roehl and spoke with someone there so hopefully that will work out. Only problem is I have a speeding ticket in NY and I am not sure of the speed I was going. I have a copy of my driving record but it doesn't list the speed.

Not keeping all the students after they get there license has been of the many reasons I'm trying to avoid company training if possible. I'm still employed now but not so sure after the 1st of the year. HCC is expensive and I can see your point for looking elsewhere. I have looked into AAA school of trucking which has a new facility in Chambersburg and comes in a little less about $2300.

I will have to look into AAA. I am seriously considering Roehl after speaking with them and taking a closer look at their web site. Take their class pay around $600 for room and board and license then just work for them for a year and you don't have to pay back the other $2800. The main thing is you can test for your CDL after the first three weeks. Then you get paid training although it's not that much pay but I am not too picky. I think I could do almost anything for a year or two no matter how bad it is. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I have done some really nasty things to make a living so it may work out for me if I am accepted.

well i went NATS in baltimore and paid 4500 for school. Yeha that was expensive compared to ccbc but the location of NATS was great for me(My regular job was right down the street) NATS was cheap compared to All State Career(10000), but watch some companies like crete will not hire a student from NATS but will hire a student from allstate.

8NBait. If you go to the roehl school you will pass the test. The instructors are top notch(in my opinion). VERY well taught. I also think you have an advantage with the CO. training with them . You are taught the way they want you to drive, therefore its easier than a three day orientation after having been taught elsewhere.
