The 98 Curtainside I just bought needs some more winches.
TruckPro has never seen these things.
If you guys have any ideas where to pick some up instead of getting someone to weld pieces for me, I'd appreciate it.

How do they come off? Just knock that pin out and remove the tab?
-
There's a cut out under the bed. They slide. When they get to the cut out, you can tilt them out.
I'm really at a loss. I need to run as soon as possible but five 4" and a dozen hand straps is going to make stuff difficult.
4" hand straps might work. They may not bc the curtain
I might suck it up and buy 7 four inch hand ratchets..., ouch. -
What's the underside of the trailer look like? I'm sure another clamp style winch could be used.
Don't rule out 2" straps and ratchets. You have to use a few more 2" straps vs 4" but they work just as well. I used to work for a company that used 2" straps almost exclusively and nothing fell off.Doing_flatbed_nc Thanks this. -
I think I'm going to go with 15 2" straps and the 5 4" that are on the trailer.
Did you ever run into any problems using 2" only? -
you can buy the winch its self. Then take to a fab shop and have them make the top plate ans weld it on.

The 2in straps are not strong, like j/mack I think you can pay to have 8 or 9 of the sliding 4in winches welded up for you and keep the 2in just for small parts that need a extra strap?
Doing_flatbed_nc Thanks this. -
What do you mean the 2" straps are not strong? They typically have a ratting of 3333 pounds vs a typical 4" strap rating of 5400.
2" straps work just fine. You just have to use a few more when compared to 4" straps aChaoSS and Doing_flatbed_nc Thank this. -
I was thinking the same thing.
They are not as strong as 4", but they're more than 50% as strong.
I found a winch that I can bolt on. So I'm rolling with 12, 4" winches and 12, 2" hand straps.
Well, as soon as the title comeskylefitzy Thanks this. -
Perhaps as your finances improve you should look into replacing the winch track to accept modern winches that are a little more readily available.whoopNride and Doing_flatbed_nc Thank this.
