im new to using load boards. I'm in the southeast.

I signed up for Truckstop. Are there other good boards for the south?

    Any to avoid?

If you search the internet. There are quite a number of load boards, free and subscription.
You can do any area sized search you want on truckstop.
    Good luck

Truck stop will let you search any region for loads. You can also do a map style search as well.

When I use Truck Stop I just put in the nearest city where my truck is. The default is a 100mi radius and it will show loads in that area. You can increase the radius to 200 or 300mi if you dont mind dead heading that far. Often if you are in a dead area,.. you will need to increase the radius in order to see some better loads.

Truck Stop is really good for open deck. More so than DAT/Trucker Edge in my opinion. DAT has more Van loads,.. but its search and break down is limited compared to how you can search using Truck Stop.

You will get the hang of it. If this is your first time,.. you will have a long learning curve. Dont get discouraged. It will take some time before you figure everything out.

The one thing to remember,.. learn which loads to call on. Learn which brokers to stay away from. Not all will post rates. Often,.. calling and asking,.. then negotiating the final rate will yield a greater outcome than just searching for the highest grossing loads and just going where ever they take you. You have to plan in advance. I'm often booking 2 - 3 loads out. You want to get to a point where you dont need the loadboard. You either have your own customers or a network of brokers with established business. The loadboard is then used only as a back up. You will learn where not to go and if you do,.. to negotiate for a much better rate.
