That's one of the other reasons I like the elds. They do all the math, so I can't screw it up. If I was on paper, I wouldn't even attempt it.
I think ELDs are Unconstitutional

A lot of driver whine that they can't pull over to take a nap, and say that makes E logs dangerous. They are either dumb or deceptive. I know YOU did not say that.
OOIDA would have done drivers better, IMO, by fighting for some flexibility in the HOS rules instead of fighting E logs.tinytim, STexan, Joetro and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't want to lose my 10 hour breaks!!
tucker Thanks this. -
I've done paper and passed a dot inspection with flying carpets back in 03. Yeah, if doing a split, it can get confusing.

I absolutely agree. While I do applaud OOIDA's attempts, I feel they had their guns trained on the wrong target. Just like when they sent Anne Ferro on a trip with the truck driver so she could see what it was like. Their hearts were in the right place, but if they actually wanted to show her the truth behind what we have to deal with, they would have sent her in a hard-run reefer to some of the ugliest warehouses that we deal with every day, where the driver was under the gun because the load was pretty much late before the driver ever knew it existed, not on a cushy flatbed run in a fancy (if you can call a Coronado fancy) truck where there was all the time in the world to get from point A to point B.DoubleO7 Thanks this.

And you shouldn't! The split sleeper as they were didn't forbid you from taking your regular break, but it did give some flexibility in your work day.Oxbow Thanks this.

Send her from Denver to Hunt's Point on Long Island! Actually, something like that should be a month long to experience how eff ups overlap days and how a receiver will hold a driver over their 14 with nowhere to park.Joetro Thanks this.

I run DDL, which is a PC-based logging program. I love it. It does all the math for me and helps me with the 8/2. I've been running them for several years and every time I've had my logs inspected, the cop loved them as they could see exactly what I did and didn't have to try and decipher chicken scratch handwriting.

The issue is that my company would probly require it if needed to make an appt.

It's funny how the ELD thread and the auto trans thread are running neck and neck today .
O/Os don't like ELDs or auto trans
Company drivers like ELDs and auto trans
O/O don't care if you want to run ELDs
Company drivers won't be happy till everyone has an ELD
O/O say a manual trans is better
Company drivers say an auto is better and more efficient .
The reality is we have ELDs now , so that battle is over , the Mega's won congrats .
Now to get rid of those pesky manual transmissions , go try and buy a full size pickup truck with a manual trans , ha it won't be long till that battle is over as well .
You can't put as many controls on a manual trans as an automatic , once they mandate auto braking , the manual trans is pretty much dead , besides how can you have an manual trans with Otto driving the truckscottied67 Thanks this.
