Locals in communities, mostly bordering dense rural areas, are up in arms about people using GPS cutting through their neighborhoods.

The days of "I know a shortcut" are all gone for the most part.
Going to be interesting to see how things are set up to keep traffic where it belongs.

I know plenty of shortcuts, but you certainly don't want to take a truck through them

Most probably are not against someone using that road, it is the speeding, running the Jake in residential areas, trashing of a area that they are against. A few stupid drivers have cut the throats of all the drivers.

I don't think it's going to end that way.

This doesn't bother as it's going to curtail a lot of people in little rat cars from speeding through places where hop scotch is the norm.

I tried a shortcut once in Virginia Beach with a big semi. Unfortunately I was faced with three blocks of cars parked on both sides.

There was just enough room gained by folding about 50 mirriors on this side, and folding another 50 on that side and wiggle through and then walk all the way back and unfolding them.

It was a singular event because I cannot recall another time in my life that I got trapped like that. But I did deserve it.

As far as the grouchy home owners with no peace and quiet on the public roads, this is a free country, they can sell and move out to better pastures.

Its not just four wheelers, we've had some trucks that came through lately using four wheeler GPS units.

One was a wide load on a low boy which took out the guard rail on the creek bridge, the country charged the carrier $60k for the repairs to the bridge and replacement of the gaurd rail.

Another ignored the signs saying rough road ahead - no trucks beyond this point. This LTL driver was doing at least 40 when he hit the first pot hole, he blew a tire or two, broke a front spring and was towed by the county when he stopped because he blocked a driveway of one of the home owners here. The sheriff didn't give a crap what the driver thought, he was going to move that truck and did so to the county impound lot 20 miles away.

I played like heck one day to get my GPS to finally route me 224 to 422 to 322 to 22 from Ohio to PA. I was starting to wonder if towns can have GPS companies route around them! I knew where I was going I just finally wanted to make it know!
