Bigbob is right mace or pepper spray very nasty for confined locations such as a truck. You'd probably be as incapacitated as the bad guy. I have also personally seen on more than one occasion where pepper spray had absolutely no effect on a person. I had one driver tell me he carries a flare gun for self defense. I thought that was interesting to say the least.

True using mace in the truck would be bad. I was more concerned with walking outside the truck such as at truck stops/rest stops, etc. at night

And I thought I was a little crazy for considering bringing my ak-47 with me. A .45 is nice but in some of the areas I go into that's being outgunned. A good short barrel shotgun is good close quarters weapon also.

Obviously wind direction is important in the open like that. As is washing your hands before using the restroom. Learned that one the hard way.

That’s because they are doped up on some crazy drug and numbed to most pain. That’s why I don’t put too much stock in mace/pepperspray.

You need a piece and even then it will take multiple hits to stop a drugged attacker... or at least know some magic and turn them into a frog.

Spoke to a retired cop and he told me once you shoot someone.. keep firing because the attacker will have about 12 steps before they realize they have been hit. Coming at you with a knife 6 steps away,, you need more than one shot or they are still going to get you.

Krav Maga takes care of that problem. Otherwise before that, it's a big old night stick or a holstered blade. I open carried a blade in it's holster many years even into NYC. The most dangerous thing it has ever done was slice metal bands on pallets. But it's small bowie design would certainly be lethal in the correct places on a human body.

One of the reasons I carry insurance with USCCA is that they modified the protections not just for gun carriers, but all the way down to simple assault with someone hitting you with a fist, object or knife. The coverages are the same. It is not however medical coverage. Just bond, court and resources to find a lawyer as well as activation prior to the law arriving.

Some of you talked about Mace and the like. Unfortunately if a bad guy attacks with Mace and you are armed you must draw and stop the threat before you are incapacitated and give the bad guy a bonus gun. Eitherway there will be hell to pay.

My great uncle always carried a short handle ball pein hammer in his service truck, and every drilling rig had at least a 12" cresent in it somewhere. I carry a 16" adjustable spud wrench like iron workers use, getting jabbed in eye with a rat tail handle will leave lasting effects! Cruel? You shouldn't be in my #### truck to start with.
