My husband is OTR for KLLM. He chose to work and take his home time next week. He could have taken it this week and been off, he did last year. I did find out that his company paid $10 reimbursement for his dinner yesterday, that was nice of them.
For Christmas, KLLM has always given a bonus for staying out the 2-3 weeks around Christmas and New Years, hopefully they will again this year.
Holiday?

I ran out of hours up in iowa, didnt make it home, on my way now be there tomorrow morning. No pay, did get 10 for food though, better than nothing. They did try though, had a load for me but would have been 3 hrs late so had to turn down. At the stop I was at wed night I saw 4 werner trucks only about 15 or so trucks there, made me wonder.

Hubby was out Thursday to deliver friday and come home, he gets paid holidays on the truck or here at home makes no difference. He is only guaranteed to be home for Christmas and so far BMT has always gotten him home on December 24th before noon.
They pay 10 hours for holidays, and yes it is nice that they do that for the drivers.Ducks Thanks this. -

If we work one minute into the Holiday
i.e. if we are on duty between 0001 and 2359 on the day of a holiday we get 12 hours paid - plus whatever time and mileage we run.
otherwise you just get 8 hours holiday pay
I turned Nashville the night before thanksgiving (got home Thursday mid morning) so I got
285 miles down
1.20 hours wait on the clock
285 miles back
plus 12 hour holiday pay..
run paid 330.60
delay paid 27.42
holiday pay was 274.20
total pay for Thursday was $632.22Ducks Thanks this. -
When I was working I loved this holiday because I got paid by the hour. I would work thurs and fri as my normal work days then I'd work a day of OT on mon. That would give me 1 day at time and half and 2 days at double time and half. The company treated fri as a holiday. In dollars that would come out to $1880 for a 60 hour week. As far as the company lets say you most likely buy our gasoline because we're number 1 on the west coast.Ducks Thanks this.

I work for Schneider on the GMSPO acct. We get paid 40.00 for holiday pay for turkey day...nothing for friday because General Motors is not sending frieght out to their dealers, they're not working. We have the option to work a truck rail or Wal Mart load if there are any available.

Yep, got paid holiday ($20/hr x 8 hrs) and took a vacation day on Friday. The company pays us 8 hours at whatever our hourly rate is for 6 holidays a year, and then my vacation day is figured on my average gross for the last 12 weeks divided by 60 (5 days a week x 12). I will do the same at christmas Vacation for 12/24 and 12/26 and holiday for 12/25. We get 2 weeks paid vacation after your second year aniversary. We have to take 1 week all together, but we can split the other among a bunch of single days if we want. I burnt my other 2 days last Christmas Eve and New Year Eve. We get 2 paid personal days a year, but we cannot take them during a holiday week.Ducks Thanks this.

Don't get holiday pay. Was scheduled for TAH on Saturday and Sunday, per my request.
Had to deliver in Waukegan Il Wednseday afternoon. Sat at the dock for 3.5 hours before they decided to have me move to a different dock and take 30 minutes to unload me. By then it was 3pm. Took me 4 hours to make it the 60 miles down 94 to our terminal in Gary In., where I was supposed to pick up a relay load for delivery near my home on Friday. By the time I got into the terminal, I was out of hours and couldn't leave until Thursday morning. Of course, the relay had to come down 94 also and didn't get there until after 10 pm anyway.
I got home about 8 am Thursday. I called in Friday morning and was told to deliver my load and bobtail back home for my scheduled TAH and I would get layover pay for Thursday and Friday both as the consignee was closed Thursday and I wouldn't get a 34 hour reset in before I had to deliver on Friday.
So no holiday pay, but still a pretty good deal IMHO.Ducks Thanks this.
