Hi guys I'm new here I am having issues with my 2010 international maxxforce dt 24' reefer truck. I started it and while I was doing PTI I got a electrical fault on the dash display. I noticed that the indicator that showes if it's in RND4321 was not there. I shifted from N to D and then D to N to R and no indicator and trans did not shift. I started with the basics like batts cables fueses inside and at batt. I checked "jiggled" plugs and wires at bcm and at tcm I also checked voltage on the pins that plug into tcm I had two 12v from batt and one 12v from ignition and had to good grounds. Can't remember the exact PIN numbers but I had the pin out that told me which ones to check. I removed plugs on the ecm and cleaned checked and plugged back in "pain in the butt to get to". I checked for bad connections at the fues panel by passenger dash and found a bad connection I could hear relay clicking when a wire was moved still no fix. I checked wiring that goes through firewall for damage and nothing. What's weird is when I disconnect batt and reset computer I can start truck and shift and drive for about four minutes then the electrical fault pops up and the shift indicator goes away and trans goes into limp mode. Thankfully truck is at my house not roadside bad news is I am 150 miles from international service center and local guys won't touch it cause they don't have correct scanners/computers and cause it's got the auto trans. If any has any help please let me know.

Not sure what series of Allison you have, but make sure any connections around the trans are clean. Actually disconnect them and inspect the pins for any green. If you have a cable shifter, unplug that too at the trans and check those pins too. Other than that, you are going to have to get the fault codes scanned one way or the other.
Chimtech Thanks this. -
appreciate your reply will double check those connections I will let y'all know what happens in the future.

FYI I have a 2500hs auto trans

2007 and newer Internationals must have the optional code reading feature ordered in order to retrieve codes through the LCD display. Since this is an extra cost, no one orders it and therefore you must have a code reader of some sort to check for codes. Without knowing what code is being logged, there isn't much more I can do for you.

This is the one active code I show
Spn:2003
Oc:39
Fmi:9
Sa:23
Conn----
Pin:n/a -
SA is source address, which is the address of the electronic module that is reporting the fault. 23 is the electronic gauge cluster. That code is for loss of communication with the transmission. This will happen if everything is turning on at key on, except the transmission, or there is a wiring problem with the datalink between the trans the rest of the truck.

Sorry for not replying right away turns out the tcm was bad. Bought a new tcm had it programmed and been good since. Thanks for helping me out.

That's too bad, I know they are expensive. They are sensitive to boosting and over charging, so make sure you don't need a boost.
