Well taking it deep in the ### today with 0 compensation.
I have one of five, 694 series trailers in the fleet, and the landing gear only come up about 5 inches off the ground.
So I can't get into this dock because it inclines way down off the street and will high center the trailer. It's not even close.
So after being mother ####ed all morning by the customer and the agent, worst truck driver in North America blah blah, they even had another truck hook to it, and the guy wouldn't even try it, they got a wrecker to put it in the dock.
Everyone is very apologetic.
If not for the load I have booked after this, because that guy is a good guy, and not just anybody can take it, I'd told them to pound sand, parked truck and been on a flight home.
Supposed to take Dad doctor Friday, never make it now, cause still have a second stop on this, won't be done until morning.
The shine of this is wearing off quickly.
Guy where I park my truck hire me in a blink for $1.40 mile. Be home about every other day.
If one more person tells me they appreciate me, I'm probably going down for assault.CorsairFanboy and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Dave are you calling agents or are they calling you? I think you said both just making sure. Your haggling on price right? Just hang in there everyone goes threw the leaning process. Just watch another teams video on how much there learning after being in five months. If you get a chance you might want to watch Columbia Dave's videos. When he ran for LS he walks you threw the number and haggle and all.

So I finally get unloaded the next day and I'm at the guard shack checking in for my load which got reschedule, like I said not anybody can take this, fortunately this didn't get carried over into a major hassle, phone rings.
Someone higher up on the food chain at Landstar. He's starts asking me what happened. Simple explanation. He goes on to say " Yea that trailer got high centered on a railroad crossing a year ago, and had the landing gear replaced."
I'm like " Yea, with the wrong ones."
He agrees and asks for my photos.
This was initiated because the agent ate a wrecker to put it in the door and take it out and is hoping to get his money from Landstar.
Do I get anything for the wasted day AND having to baby sit this load until tomorrow because the appointments are now screwed up so I had to be pushed back a day? F no.
And I didn't even want the load that caused all the grief. " Oh man please take it, you'll be helping me out so much. I so appreciate it. "
Told that agent take his freight, his apology, and his customer and shove them in his ###. DO NOT F CALL ME AGAIN. IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO FURTHER TO MAKE YOU F UNDERSTAND?
" I understand".
That dude at the receiver, he was like the big boss too, just come up and says " If you can't get that in there, you're the worst truck driver in The United States." " Just take the stuff back if you can't."
Doesn't even ask what is the situation. Just comes off with that crap.
Told him to shove his apology in his ### as well, and if he had a problem we could settle anywhere he wanted. POS.
Only silence then.CorsairFanboy, BoostedTeg and HopeOverMope Thank this. -
I had a jack bag in Birmingham Alabama start that crap a couple of weeks ago.........
Him: "You mean you can't put it in that hole? Well, the other guys do it all the time.......(you mean the daycab guys with 28' trailers.....????)......
Me: "I'm sure they do, but I don't. Find another dock or unload it in the street. Your call......"
He found another dockinterpreter, CorsairFanboy, Knucklehead and 1 other person Thank this. -
The other thing that swayed me not to come completely unglued, was this was Wednesday, Thursday is my payday, and I my settlement was just over $5K, that's everything already paid for, that's my money, I knew if I imploded, I'd seen probably $500 of that.csmith1281 and HopeOverMope Thank this.

sooooooo............money indeed does talk.....LOL
Dave_in_AZ and csmith1281 Thank this. -
That was about half of it. More was the upcoming load, cause that agent is a good guy. I just call him anytime I need a load out of there and it's mine. Direct customer, rates always the same. But then once its set up, it's really F up if it falls apart.
The money does talk though. Dude LS operations are like the mob, they don't wanna know nothing about nothing except the money is flowing. Problem? Handle it.CorsairFanboy, blairandgretchen and csmith1281 Thank this. -
Oh the joys of LS. Make nice money but am always wrong in the eyes of those who behold the 904 area code.
But it was a trade off I was willing to make for many years... I despised those 904 area code calls... oh and guess what, I park on the side of the road sometimes now... outlaw style lolCorsairFanboy, whoopNride and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Rule #1. Never answer a call from 904.
Rule#2. Never answer a call from 815.csmith1281, nikmirbre and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
