any brokers with loads open on weekends?

I Told you already on that other thread that if you want weerkend work- (Picking and delivering) Not just Driving- You have to solicit yourself to customers that work a half day Saturday (or even full day)

Your a team operation right? Why aren't you booked on a Friday to deliver Monday 1500 miles away?

You need to get your efficiency and scheduling in order young man.

When I was working harder- I worked Monday thru Friday AND a half day Saturday with my 1 truck n trailer

Saturday was Nice- Little Traffic and home by noon-1 pm

 

I used to pick up loads for ceva,forward air,dhl loads on weekends. Air freight.

 

I Would- Your not gonna get Rich in a year- Pace Yourself- If you want to run over the weekend- you have to Schedule yourself-preplan........That way your not asking on a Saturday what to do

Pace Yourself- Don't try and Kill yourself- This business doesn't Favor anyone.

Preplan out, no doubt about it.

Try to get yourself set up before Fri for something that will carry over the weekend. Especially team.

Somehow, though in the same business, can't hack the hours we are willing to work.

Difference in work ethic, or smarter than us....?

Think jury is out on that one? LOL

Have to plan well to run through the weekend.Im lucky as most all my company trips are 1200+1500 miles,I ususlly finish 2,then reset on weekends and start the process again Monday morning.

 

Lots of brokers work weekends this business never stops. But if you try contacting them after lunch time you're SOL that's when they normally have everything covered and go home. I'm on a Hub Group email list that one of the brokers emails out available loads at least 3 times a day. If you email back or call about anything you can normally get in touch with him about booking something day or night 7 days a week.

 

It’s not entirely true that brokers don’t work on the weekends but I understand where @stayinback is coming from. I do have some shippers/receivers that load/deliver trucks over the weekend, and I know there are more around that do too as well. However I’m not typically booking those loads on the weekends. If I know I’ve got a load picking up over the weekend I’m usually trying to make sure it’s booked in advance of the weekend. On the rare occasion that I’m looking for a truck on a Saturday/Sunday, depending on the market there are usually some trucks looking for a load. If it’s a less than desirable market or lane, then it may be hard to find a truck on the weekend.

I may not be in the office over the weekend, but I am sure to make myself available if the carrier has issues picking up the load, and I do my best to make sure my customer is available in some form as well if there are issues. I believe it’s definately accurate to say there are less opportunities on the weekends, but they are out there. My advice to you @freightwipper would be to email the brokers/shippers you are working with a few days ahead of time with your availability if it looks like you’ll be empty on the weekend and willing to make a pickup/delivery. Someone might have an opportunity they aren’t showing because they figure no one may be interested in weekend work.

A word of caution though, generally there aren’t many “decision makers” available on the weekend at most shippers and/or brokerages in case something goes south on the shipper/receiver side or with you. So be sure to discuss those scenarios with whomever your getting the load from and make sure you have accurate weekend contact info for all parties involved, to help avoid having to sit around all weekend to sort a situation out until Monday. Verify shipping/receiving hours and contact info and that your load will be ready and/or unloaded over the weekend. I’ve read several stories on TTR forum of brokers from certain brokerages making promises of certain pickup/delivery accommodations only to find out those promised were false.

 

Are there any rules about posting our own information or soliciting? I've been looking for weekend work for months, it's hard to find customers that are available to book freight beyond maybe an 8-noon shift on Saturdays. If it's not in violation of forum rules and such, I'd be down to share my info and work with some of you guys!
