Of course a .22 is deadly with unlimited ammo but I think we’re saying give me 30 rounds of .22 vs 30 of some 9mm gold dots you know who the champ will be...

It’s not the Wild West where were walking around with a spare .22 in our boots because you can’t conceal your revolver.

My shield holds 9 rounds and isn’t hard to hide. Why would I carry a baby .22 I can barely aim because it’s so small?

I don't own a rifle smaller than a .30 cal and my smallest pistol is a .45. My "bump in the night" house gun is an 870 Express that I swapped to a 20" barrel, extended the magazine tube, and added extra shell carriers on the stock and receiver. Heat shield over the barrel makes it look bad-###, and the SureFire light on the muzzle with the remote pressure switch on the forend lets me see what I'm shooting. It's 7+1, with 11 extra rounds available to load if the 1st 8 shots aren't enough...keep them alternating between a .65 RB w/ 6x #1 bucks chasing it, and a 1 oz rifled slug chasing after 3x 000 buck. Basically, if you're hit you'll know it. Considering that .65 RB load will make a 12" thick x 18" long hardwood log do cartwheels, I doubt there will be much "fight" left in anyone it hits...even if they happen to be wearing body armor.

My 870 and a typical clay day.

I don’t get too concerned with all the home defense stuff and all that. I just like shooting clays and and random trees with my ak lol.

Got some guns laying around my house if anyone wants to act like an idiot and break in. Same with sleeping in the truck. Shield sits in my cup holder at night. More than good enough for a stray crack head.

That’s a hairy part about carrying. What if someone attacks you, then you pull out your piece to defend yourself and they run away. I am not going to shoot them in the back running away and now I have broken the law brandishing my gun.

I was watching accident road rage videos on YouTube yesterday. A lot of idiots on the road.. esp in Russia. Those people can’t drive for ####

If someone threatens you and you draw on them, at which point they flee and you subsequently stand down, that’s not “brandishing”. That’s the whole point of carrying.

That’s actually the best case scenario because no shots were fired.

We are always trained in classes that if you pull your gun out you better be pulling the trigger. At least that is what I have always been told. They said you cannot brandish to discourage a crime against you.

I get what you are saying it makes perfect sense. Just that in court my actions would be scrutinized and probably x10 as a commercial driver.

I carry a couple of firearms in the truck, and I have a CPL. I run quite a bit of the Detroit area and other more iffy places. I have no desire to ever have to draw my weapon, but I have been in that situation before. And thank God I had the desired outcome, no shots fired, the perp ran away, no cops were involved. This has happened several times over the years while trucking.

What I have done, is to get insurance from this outfit, just in case. USCCA: Concealed Carry, CCW Self-Defense Insurance & Training

One of the main reasons I bought this insurance, is that my buddy, a CPL holder, was arrested in his truck for brandishing. I don't believe he brandished, he carries a little pocket Derringer that is about the size of a Zippo Lighter. But none the less, some four wheeler with a bit of road rage called the Ohio State Troopers on my buddy. My friend was pulled over just South of Toledo and carted off to jail. It cost him thousands of dollars to defend himself, hours of anger management classes in Ohio and was finally able to get his CPL back. I don't want to have to go through that financially. Nor would I ever consider brandishing due to simple road rage. I have been out here to long, just as my buddy has. He has been driving since the 1970's and is the coolest guy you would ever meet. Not the guy that pulls a weapon, especially one so small you would need binoculars to see in a passing vehicle. So, I bought the insurance.

They have a deal for veterans, I bought their one year Elite plan, 10% off if you are a veteran. The cost was around $450 for the year. I hope I never have to call them to find out if their insurance works.

Well, one should try and de-escalate if at all possible, but from where I sit once you’ve been threatened a crime against you HAS been committed. You’ve been assaulted.
