Make complaints often, unless your hours are up. What about layover pay??

It's early days yet. If I remember correctly you started orientation end of October, so you've only been on your own for a couple weeks max. The first 3 weeks to 3 months is the roughest. When I think back to when I started most of the issues I faced were off my own making. My trip planning and communication skills were why I was sitting. Make sure your NAT is accurate and you've planned out every step of the trip before you release the brakes. That's just general advice.

Not being on the bulk side and without more detail then you should post on here there is much I don't know. How was your time with a TE? Can you call him and get his perspective? Do you have home time set up? If so it's entirely possible that the only freight where you're at will take you someplace where you can't get home on time. Again, without access to all the info I'm just guessing.

Make a plan with your dbl to sit down and talk about mutual expectations. What you expect from him in terms of accessibility, miles, pay, running time, tah, etc. Also what he expects from you. If you can't come to a meeting of the minds, transfer to a new dbl.

    Good luck.

It's the slowest time of the year at Schneidy Bulk, but three days sitting? I'd be tempted to boogie on out of there too.

It's very frustrating at first, plus you're starting at a slow time of year (I almost quit during my first month).

You'll eventually figure out what you can or can't control. Once you start learning how things work, you'll find ways to fix a lot of the problems.

Once upon a time, I was in the same spot as you are now. Started in the fall. A year later, I got a great gig working for a small company. And few years after that, I got an even better job.

The thing is, had I not stuck it out that first year, I wouldn't have learned anything and wouldn't have landed that next job. It was awesome, I went to a lot of the same cities I did with a schneidy, and even some of the same shippers & receivers. But this time I knew what I was doing and exactly where I was going ... and I was also treated A LOT better (once I got out of that orange truck).

Get your exp,, stay out of trouble and 9 months from now, whenever you sit, use that time to research jobs. Time will fly.

I started with Scneider "this time" last July. Yesterday morning the stupid Navigo (company GPS) brings me to a traffic light and says I'm there. Nothing around me. Took me almost two hours to find the place. It was 3.5 miles away.

Schneider is supposed to be a 24/7 operation, but it's not. The dispatchers go home between 5 and 7 pm. Then all calls go to an overnight service that puts you on hold forever. Have never spoken to anyone there. This place is a joke.

Sounds like Bison Transport in Canada.....The more I read Schneider posts, the more I realize all Mega's are pretty much the same; regardless which side of the border they are on.

That's pretty common on the bulk side. What terminal are you out of? Savannah? Assuming you have all of your endorsements it should pick up once you get Nalco vetted. They do suck for communication. Spent 3 days trying to grab a load from Nalco in Bedford park which is luckily when I got a call for a local job. All in all it wasnt to bad. Grind it out for a year and beat feet
