Just my 2cents but I think a 1-ton dually is really the only way to go in this game. You need a diesel for the amount of miles you drive and you need the extra stability of the duals. Especially in winter and rain with high winds. The gas trucks cost way too much to run and you can usually find a deal on used 1-tons as the demographic is smaller and they don't sell as well as ordinary pickups.

Hello , thinking of buying a dually and put it to work. Don't want to invest in a trailer just yet. Don't want to haul rvs nor cars. Can u give me any info on employers to lease to. Wanting to get a f350 powerstoke or gmc 3500 any info will be appreciated, I can be reached at whitemL2010@gmail.com

Hotshot in my opinion is a title for two different types of trucking or three if you factor rv and trailer transport. But mainly
Ltl or expedited frieght. Both as you said can be any weight or size most the time light weight. I use to do hotshot. The true hotshot was running just a pickup to pick up parts and what not for oilfields and other types of industries. -
Good advice here.....

Hi I'm new to this dually thing I have a 3500 ford dually but no trailer how can i get signed on with someone where I really don't need a CDL and I'm able to pull their equipment
-
I would just get your CDL, Otherwise you are limiting yourself to light loads and trailers and there is limited enough freight for hotshots as it is. The better outfits to sign on with will probobly want you to have one anyway.
Chevy and RAM both have 3500 series trucks, not Ford.
Ford's 1 ton is a F350.
You might want to know what vehicle you own before trying to run a business with it

Not being a smart ###, maybe Uber. You can work when you want, sleep in your bed every night. Once you slow down, and have some income, like social security, the list of crap you won’t do again, becomes surprisingly long. Throwing chain, or tarps, oh hell no. Good luck
