That’s how I started, I had assets that was used and only have a house payment. Have a company car and they pay insurance and also my job I’m very flexible due to office from home. I’m able to take a load if a driver can’t. Even took loads on saturdays which I still don’t pay myself for that load as I would the driver.
Which way do I go?

Had a blowout on road and I took tire to truck, had a brake issue today and I went and fixed it which saved me a road call. Every little bit helps

I'd never try to squelch someone's ambition, there are plenty of success stories, and if you have good drivers, that's most important. I'd stay away from the "reefer/ husband-wife" thing, that's a recipe for disaster. These mega companies have the rates cut so bad on reefer, you rarely see O/O's pulling reefers. If you're already into flatbed, stay with that. Lots of flatbed work, from what I see on the road, and today, I think that's the best route for an O/O.

Why do every trucker story starts like this?(no pun intended)
What should I do? My house, car, etc paid off. I should make it? Every true owner Operator has control over rates can and should refuse cheap freight. It shouldn’t matter the trailer cheap loads are out there in all segments. -
I also agree, cheap freight is a issue, and I'll do my best to combat that issue. Thank you. -
Do you plan on doing your own maintenance? If not you need to find a reputable wrencher. Have a nice sum for maintenance. Where do you plan on running?
