My hubby did his training, and ran 3 months with Werner, and he has a 15 & 20 year old DUI. He did his training last year Oct - the end of Nov. He chose to leave them at the end of Feb 2008. They must have changed their hiring policies.

Jezuz..they go back that far, i thot it was 5/10 yrs max, but 22?? I can't even remember back that far, mayb 1 speeding ticket like 7 over the limit in a 35mph zone! They must ask u if u have ever had a DUI to get that info unless it pops up no matter how far back it was.. my driving transcript is clean, blank, nothing as far back as 15yrs, after that i couldn't say for sure if my life depended on it (but nothing other than 1 speeding ticket)!! This must be an insurance issue with Werner but why they wouldn't have that DUI info b4 u ever started driving is a ? to me??

The thing with DUI's is that it stays around much longer than normal moving violations and traffic tickets. Those are treated a bit differently than the normal stuff, because you get too many of those, and you can end up losing your ability to drive ever again. I don't know exactly how they are handled, but they are different.

It's probably not so much company policy as insurance requirements. I've seen some local carriers advertise 1 dwi must be over 5 yrs, 2 and you're not even considered.

That's probably about right. The insurance companies set the rules for the rates the company wants. The more wiggle room, the higher the rates.

They are also the boneheads that set the rules regarding 'recent experience' so that drivers with 10 and more years of experience that have been out of the seat for a couple of years have to start all over again. That's just nuts! I'd rather have someone with a good solid 10 years under them than someone who only has a few years, all other things being equal.
