also, landstar doesn't hire salesmen to manage customer accounts so each broker is left to their own personal connections. No connections? Off to the load boards, time to break in your phone.
Landstar is getting cheap.

I hear this arguement a lot. And its ridiculous. The ONLY factor that matters is did he or did he not net more money leased to (insert carrier name here)than he would have on his own.Dave_in_AZ, W9onTime and Ruthless Thank this.
-
Those with that argument assume that your gonna get %100 of the rate to begin with.... For instance.. Im on a load paying $24xx on 815 miles.... The LS freight bill pay $31xx. so I gave up $700. A lot of people assume that because your under your own authority your gonna get the $31xx.....
whoopNride, Dave_in_AZ, Tug Toy and 3 others Thank this. -
^^^ your making $3+ Per mile , that's all that matters
spyder7723 and nikmirbre Thank this. -
Matter fact when you call into some agents that do post some of "their" freight on other broker boards, before you tell them your a bco, they will describe the load and give you the pay. And its less than the freight bill or what the load board says. ( I understand thats where negotiating comes in though)
Dave_in_AZ, spyder7723 and W9onTime Thank this. -
Exactly. Or in the more lucrative freight, never have access to the load. Take aa&e loads our 24 hour security loads. Those are not handed out to small independent carriers. Sure lots of guys at the lucnh counter claim to have hauled missiles out of military base x going to air field y where they backed their trailer right into the belly of the c130. But funny thing is, when you ask about that base or airfield it becomes quickly evident they have never set foot on it. There are certain things you just never forget. The security at bangor for example.

Landstar takes 2% off the top of the whole line haul before cutting 67% to the driver, so the 67% you're talking about is actually 67% of 98% of the total line haul.
Also, when Landstar drivers take loads from landstar brokers, they are given the all in rate period. There's no way to short the truck a cent unless the customer is paying the broker extra money under the table. Landstar trucks get Fuel paid and accessorials, and landstar brokers make a flat percent of the line haul, 5%. -
They said my truck is too old and my Flatbed is not welcome there

I don't know I'm kind of fragile these days. I think I need to go home and spend quality time with my wife.
