    Hey all,
In my boredom, I started thinking of stuff that drivers might like to have in their trucks. I've thought about one piece units that could work as a sink, desk, one-element stove top...etc. Of course I havent put much thought into that because of the lack of demand for it.

However, I have thought about additional storage stuff. What would you, the average OTR driver like to have in the trucks. Im not talking about OEM stuff, but if you could purchase something that was aftermarket.

    Organization as far as:
    *Clothing?
    *food stuffs?
    *bigger desk?

Basically in my mind I have a neat idea of something that could be put onto a top bunk (yeah, prob #1 as not everyone has one) that would organize / utilize that area up there. And I'm trying to think of whatever else a driver might like to have to make their lives a bit easier OTR.

    Thanks,
    Zigs

how about a design where fold out steps could be built into the underbed storage area? they could fold down and/or disconnect. I had a real hard time reaching for things on the top bunk and top shelves without a stepladder. You mentioned the storage up top, and I couldn't think of anything but the stepladder!

Volvos had that for a while, it was like a ladder that folded out from the pass side cabinets. It was a bit narrow though. I remember my first truck was a cabover int'l. The net up top was fashioned like a wall coming down in front of the bunk which made it better for holding junk.

Now as far as a wish list for my old over the road gig trucks I had frieghliners mostly and always thought that overhead bin above the windshield would have been nicer with a drawer set up. As it was with the net I tended to pile so much junk up there when it came time to switch trucks it was like Christmas morning find all the cool stuff I had forgotten about. In my current local/regional truck which is also a shaker I have under bunk storage but there is no side box door on the pass side. Just isn't a graceful was for my oversized butt to reach the stuff that gets into the back corner of the area.

In my hubbys otr truck I have purchased a 3 drawer plastic storeage system, took the drawers out and put them in the over head area (its a freightliner) SO much better to organize that way, I also bought a long skinny flower pot thats plastic and fits under the bunk for storeage great place for cans, extra food etc. I am OCD when it comes to organization so he "suffers" for it.....

we had a 6 drawer plastic storage system for our stuff and we've learned to reduce our clothing to what fits in the shower bag lol.

but i always had issues with water for my dog, whom drinks ALOT of water, i wanted to use one of those auto waters but it would spill at every bump. So im working on one that closes the top when the dog isn drinking so it doesnt spill. Dog stands on a pad opens the top drinks, and then it clsoes when hes not. Thusly no spilling I SHALL BE A ZILLIONARE MWAHAHA.
