I was leased to KLLM in 1983 when they were just KLM. It was forced dispatch and they kept me out for 1 full YEAR and would not get me home - and it was my truck! Finally was sitting in Fontana with another lease O/O from Atlanta. They had 2 loads, 1 to Miami going right past my door, and 1 to Atlanta. Guess who got which load??? Wouldn't switch no matter what we said. So I loaded, dropped the trailer in Jackson and quit. They must have changed lots since then...
-
Oh yes, much has changed since then. What a horrible experience for you.

Hey there Leanna -
Talked to Thomas yesterday and things are looking good. Told Roadmasters today I was not going to their school. Going with Carolina Trucking Academy and Thomas said that would be fine. Apply after getting my first week under my belt and then he would process the prehire.
Thanks for turning me on to them. They look like a really good fit.
At this point, my target companies are:
KLLM
Maverick
Transport America
Roehl
and possibly US Xpress (rider and pet policy)
Thoughts?
Oh yeah, great joke i heard today......
Do you know why Blind People don't skydive?
It scares the hell out of their dogs! har har har
To any blind people that may be offended, I apologize -
Good to hear! Hope it works out for you.
ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
so scooterdawg who did you finally decide to go with? I contacted us express and they told me they the only thing that they are hiring for in the state of michigan is teams and i am not interested in teams so i will continue to look at other companies. I have been able to pick and choose due to the fact that i had the state pay for my training and have no commitment to any company for training.
ScooterDawg Thanks this. -
Thanks LeannaMarie - I'll keep ya'll posted!

Hey there SpecOps -
No true decision made yet. I did get a commitment for a pre-hire from Transport America (talked to Susan - really nice lady)(and it was genuine), but as of yet, I am still hunting. Do a google for truck companies in Michigan and it will give you a great list of companies. That's how I got started. -
hey ScooterDawg, yes, Susan is a very nice lady talked with her a couple of weeks ago and have a pre-hire letter from trans Am. Also, have pre-hire from KLLM, Arrow, covienant, stevens, conway, (for CFI which they own also). I am swaying towards arrow at this point, since I would like to apply for specialized heavy haul in the future. Due to that's what I have been doing for the last couple of years, operating excavator and heavy equipment and moving with family trucks.
Thanks.

Special Ops.....
You know what, there is something else you can do (can't believe I didn't think about this in my last post)
Create a thread like I did and let these guys know what you want to do and what you would be WILLING to do. I can promise you, there are some very knowledgable people here who are more than willing to give you some great advice. Personally, I would love to make some suggestions, but I am still a novice (aka newbie), and these guys know a whole lot more about this stuff and the various companies than I do. My advice would be, at best, shallow. However (contrary to what I just said), go to your UserCP, and pull up about forums about the various companies. It won't take long for you to get a feel of the general concensus.
