Anyone here have any predictions on prices now that the ELD is effective?
Yes, I know it's effective monday, but most people are stopping tonight for the weekend. And if you aren't, we are with you in thought...

Get an AOBR than you can keep using paper.
59EX Thanks this. -
Already bought ours. In all honesty, running outlaw makes more money but it is also extremely risky and keeps me up at night when we need a guy to do it in an "emergency"...you know like the customer absolutely needs it picked up in a tiny window of time that is impossible. Or the dealers that want us to pick and drop next day when it isn't legally possible. I want to be done with that. I think the industry needs to be done with that.tech10171968, 59EX and Chinatown Thank this.

Them days better be over, we ran hard saving them from the mistakes they made and now WE are paying the price of trying to be the nice one. If they can not plan properly then they better start learning because now we must follow a insane regulation that is about fines and penalties, not really safety.

$3,000 for the units we are getting. Omnitracks I believe, they are charging us $50 a month for usage fees. GPS mapping and ELD. I spoke with the family, and now we are planning on leaving the industry and off in another direction. 30 years and this is the straw that broke this driver's back.
Tropsnart Thanks this. -
Buy exempt trucks or drive exempt work.

With what there is going to be left, it is best to sit it out for a bit just waiting to take up when it all fails, they are going to try running with massive amount of inexperienced seat warmers who have not been even down the block which is setting up everything for a huge failure. So sit back and wait until the shelves are empty, they are going to be crying to get the experienced old fogeys back... then come back with high prices because inflation is soon coming and it is not our fault, they will blame us but we really have them by the short hairs.Oldironfan Thanks this.

The guys that have the exempt trucks are getting them too... GPS baby.

I'm not leaving yet, we need to put together a few more dollars to switch industries/occupation. Also need to do a bit of construction on the homestead. So, hopefully by the end of Summer/Fall I'll be finished with this industry. I have never needed a wet nurse out here, and I don't plan on starting now.
