Nice, I worked for a guy who lives in Lagrange. My son works for Bottini Fuel. I dont know about the hotel. Im in a local drivers training school in Kingston. I take my road test Dec 10th. If all works out, I go to Gary Ind Jan 12th. Im only there a couple days then on a truck with a mentor. I took the NYS metel coil endorsment test today and failed. That was a tough test, more studing so I can take it agene this week. Im glad it's only $5. Well. if all goes well for us, I'll look for you out there.

NYS Metal Coil Endorsement?
-
CHEVUSA,
I'm attending a private CDL school, NTTS in Liverpool NY. You do need a DOT physical to obtain a CDL permit. The physical isn't much though, eye test, hearing, blood pressure, a few questions then a urine test for diabetes and drugs. Most doctors as well as chiropractors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants can administer the test.
You must show the DMV the "short form" medical card to get the permit. They ask for it and photo copy it at the DMV. Also you have to pass the following written tests to obtain the permit: general knowledge, combination vehicles and air brakes. The tests are $10 (for all the tests you take in one sitting) and the permit is $10.
Various trucks or loads require different endorsements, an endorsement indicates minimum knowledge to operate a particular vehicle or carry a particular load. Tank trucks require an endorsement as do doubles and triples. You also need an endorsement to carry hazardous materials, HazMat are a wide variety of things from matches to nuclear materials or biological/medical waste. Many companies require a HazMat endorsement, some don't care at all. Metal coils is an endorsement required to carry cable, wire or roll stock on a flatbed; the test is essentially concerned with safe and proper securement of the load.
You can the CDL manual at your local DMV office to study before attempting the tests. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding about the physical and endorsements.
Best Regards,

The NYS Metal Coil Endorsement is something the great state of NY came up with. I don't know if any other state has anything like it.

You can pm one of the moderators and ask them to pass a message along to another forum member.. -
The Clearwater is about a mile and a half from the terminal, so if you like to walk.....
Seriously though, if you don't want to drive up there why not take a bus/fly and then rent a car for while you are there?
CHEVUSA Thanks this. -
NY is the "ONLY" state that requires an "M" (medal coil endorsment) to carry metel coils over 5000 lbs. Roehl told me I'll need to get it.
