Either A, you are just amusing your self with stupid questions or B, you really have no idea how the trucking world works and are just a poser.
I'll go with the B.

To the OP, there are no guarantees of any 34 hour break. Sometimes you are going to run every single day. Learn about running recap. Clock and schedule doesn’t just stop at 70 hours on duty. On the 8th day of your week you pick up whatever hours you used 8 days prior. Your hours perpetually “recap”. No weekends in OTR. You break when you can.
RussianBearTruckeR and Highway Sailor Thank this. -
Blackshack46 Thanks this.

By the way you never explained the DOT REQUIREMENT that otr drivers get a minimum 34hrs off.
" you get a minimum of 34hrs off every week as do all otr drivers per DOT REQUIREMENT" -
No requirement to take 34hrs off. You can work every day of your life and still be compliant. As long as you do not exceed 70hrs in an 8 day period.
34 consecutive hrs off is only required to restart the 70 hr clock.
If this is not clear, more classroom might be needed.RussianBearTruckeR, driverdriver and IluvCATS Thank this. -
Did you see the question the young family guy was asking? He asked about weekends off at TMC. Not any other company. Period.
Getting into the details of how we manage the 70 hour clock is for another day. He doesn't even know what the clock is or how the clock works.
Yes, you can work everyday, not going very far, and not be out of compliance. However, young guys don't want to work everyday of there life. They aren't owner Op's either.
They want time off, hence the shortage of drivers today. Add to that the ELD mandate that starts Monday, and the shortage is only going to get worse. By the way, our pay hasn't kept with the rate of inflation for the past decade adding to the shortage.
Company's advertise weekends home to recruit new drivers because that is what they want. We need new drivers because we are all getting old and retiring soon. I've got 5 years left before I retire.
Without them how will the country continue to flourish?coastietruckin' and StewBear Thank this. -

I been at it a long time and I don’t know of any regulation where every OTR driver gets a minimum of 34 hours off a week.
driverdriver Thanks this.
