I have a 2009 International ProStar with an ISX in it when I come to a stop light or a toll booth it starts to skip when I step on the fuel while it's skipping it belches out a puff of smoke and then it clears itself it doesn't do it all the time but it seems to be doing it more and more I'm thinking two things and I'm not really sure I replaced the timing and fuel actuator on the back three cylinders last year I'm also considering replacing the front to only so that I have new actuators for fuel and timing but I think my problem is actually an injector my injectors are less than a year old even though I don't want to go back for warranty I'm thinking one of my injectors is leaking on idle and that's what's causing the Skip and if i shut it off when its skipping it makes s slight bind when i go to start it up that and the puff of smoke leeds me to belive it is a bad injector it doesn't do it all the time like I said and the truck runs fine going down the road it's only at idle oh it also makes a clicking noise when it's doing it almost sounds like a loose rocker even though I know I don't have rockers I was wondering if when it's doing it if I took a laser temperature gun and tested the temperature at each exhaust manifold at each cylinder would that tell me which injector is bad any answers would be greatly appreciated thank you

Have to remove valve cover and inspect before throwing parts at it (actuators are $400+ each) These engines "eat" valve camshafts for lunch.

Sounds like EGR valve sticking or DPF needs cleaning and if you’re adding antifreeze regular you got a cooler leak if so don’t let that go it will destroy your motor

Thanks for the reply I am not lposimg any antifreze EGR is blocked off DPF is bypassed -
Thanks a wiped out cam would skip all the time this motor only skips at idle and only on occasion thats whats got me baffeld the reason i am changing the accuators is because when i had the head replaced they told me they were weak i changed one of each for the back cylinders and now i will replace the front ones

In that I would have to agree sounds like one of those pesky sensors but try takings the hose off the turbo that leads to cac and check for oil just a thought good luck with it I had the same motor drove me nuts trying to figure it out
