I believe the TM for Markham is based in Kankakee and manages both terminals. As far as 60k some drivers say they make that much. You would need to stay out several weeks at a time to do that. I want more home time than that. I estimate my first year gross will be between 45 and 50. Thats with 6 weeks training pay to start the year.

How do yu sleep in the truck when its like 100 degrres outside or 15 degrees outside? Dont alot of these companies get kinda funny about too much idling...since they are trying to save on fuel?? What is superior's policy on this?

wsyrob, how often have you had to "suit up" to load or unload, since you've been with Superior? The thought of having to stand around in a hot suit during the summer, doesn't sound too fun.

I have never had to wear the whole suit. Once the customer required me to wear the jacket for a non hazmat load. They had just installed cameras to monitor the staff for safety violations and he was paranoid.

Only about 1/3 of my loads have not been customer unload. I run a lot of dedicated loads out of my terminal and they are all customer unload.

Tanker and Hazmat. We also have to get a TWIC card but the company will pay for that. Our terminal is in High Point NC. I see you have been driving for a while. They used to be Central Transport before being bought out by Superior Carriers a few years ago.

I am not sure what qualifies as driving experience but terminal managers do the hiring. I sent you a private message.

Superior pays for Idleair if its available or you can idle the truck. They do want you to turn it off when you are not in it but I have never been told not to idle.

This week found me at home more than out on the road. I got a dedicated N Chicago run that originally was scheduled to load at Noon Wed. I got a call Mon afternoon from dispatch asking if i could load at 6 AM. I said fine thinking I might be able to get another dedicated run over the weekend and make a good check. Got up at 3:30 am Tuesday and Wed, got loaded and made it home Thursday afternoon.

I had asked for a couple of personal days Mon and Tuesday next week to got o the Panther Bucs Monday night game. We have a hotel room in downtown Charlotte and my wife and I plan to do some Christmas shopping. That kept me from getting a load Monday so I am probably looking at a couple of of weeks with smaller checks. The up side to that is I have had a lot of home time. I was only out Tues, Wed and Thurs last week and next week I won't go out before Wed. I will still gross around $600 for the 3 day week and that still pays the bills. I am loving this home time though.

My dispatcher tells me this is the slow time from now until the end of Feb. I think I am going to see if I can get hired to coach a little swimming part time to fill in some of the extra days off. My "honey do" list is harder than working.

    ScooterDawg Thanks this.
