My neighbor was inspected leaving Las Vegas going to CA on the Saturday before the mandate went into effect. He told the DOT officer it starts on Monday, and he replied that they will be inspecting for elogs.

Yesterday, the IL scales were very active. I got green onto bypass lane, But they were crowded with parked trucks behind the scales. Checking for ELDs?

I heard from a guy I know that talked to his nephew's dad who heard from a guy that read a link on Facebook from a driver who posted a story he heard at a truckstop diner in ten buck two that relayed a observation he had made. Which seemed completely anecdotal to me, thus, I ignored it.

Problem with your theory is that as the deadline approached and more carriers made the switch to elogs, the frequency in which a truck would run full steam ahead into stopped or slowing traffic increased. More people racing the strict clock unwilling to lift.

Our company did everything right. Started installing and training 180 drivers 10 months ago, finishing up on August 30th. Bought the system from a vendor with 65 years of experience in the compliance business, J J Keller's mobile.
Dec 14 they released the firmware to go from AORBD to ELD.
150+ units are now in varying phases of disfunction. None RODS compliant. Virtual total meltdown.
Tell me again how you could have prevented this sequence of events with 20/20 hindsight on your side?

75 years in the compliance business is hardly a great endorsement for someone trying to venture into the heavy duty computer hardware business where hardware needs rock solid comm with a HD truck in harsh environments, and to the cloud.

They have a great print and web presence operation but that's about as far as their greatness goes.

Maybe they should have spent the money and went with Qualcomm. No problems here.

Personally would never buy a thing from JJ Keller. I get several calls a year from them trying to sell me stuff I don't need. Very pushy, even had one accuse me of not being legal because I would not buy from him.
