How's that x15... many are waiting to see
-
132k miles so far. Built back at Febuary. No engine break down. Sadly Im getting reassigned to a different truck next month because of xtraboard.

We have a 2013 DD15 and a 2012 ISX. Both have about the same mileage (just getting near 300,000 kilometres.) The Cummins has had all the injectors replaced, the fuel injection pump replaced twice, EGR cooler replaced, an air compressor, thermostat housing replaced, NUMEROUS NOX sensors and just recently the SCR/DPF catalysts replaced with new NOX sensors at a cost of over $8600.
The DD15 has had no hard part failures other than the idler pulleys because they started chirping. And so did the new one after 3 months. Also just did the SCR/DPF catalysts in it too. Also brand new, not remans and they are only $1200 versus $8600 for Cummins.
As far as running them.....I prefer the DD. It feels more like an old Cat. And sounds like a normal diesel.
The Cummins has a very unpredictable throttle. It revs very quick and drops RPM very quick. And does all kinds of strange things as the turbo changes pitch. You get used to it, but the DD feels more like an old engine.
The DD seems to need more regens than the Cummins, but uses less DEF fluid. But that is doing city work as a dump truck. When I am on the highway with the pony trailer at 140,000 pounds I have no regen issues at all with the DD.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Well you are comparing cm2250 (early def engine). Course they had a fragile fuel pump.
-
Cm2250 is famous for carbon packing rings and wearing out liners at 500,000 miles. Let's not forget that fuel pump 3 piston version with ceramic piston when it failed could ruin the whole engine. Don't forget about to much boost pressure stretching head studs is normal. And not to mention sorry fuel mpg no matter what you do.russtrucker Thanks this.

Always scared of cm2250 than the cm2350.

I would take isx just because dd15 don’t come in kenworth
-
I've drove 2 kenworth trucks one with 8 bag ride, lumber wagon. One with 4 bag and all the unnecessary torsion bars at the springs did not help it also rode like a lumber wagon and body roll was terrible.
Airliner suspension is simplicity at its finest. No extra parts to need to repair. PETE lowleaf seems very similar, never had the chance to ride that.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
Well that would explain the oil useage we are starting to see. Well it doesn't have the mileage, the problem with ours is it does run the highway all winter pulling the pony grossing 140,000, but summer it idles around as a straight dump truck with a 600 Cummins lightly loaded for the power. So obviously it will plug up quicker than a truck running the highway daily.
But most of the hard part failures were when it was still under two years old at 125,000 KM.
