I refuse to pay ANY company that had a hand in pushing the mandate through. I will not reward them for their effort.

This is a good thing and allows for minor "emergency moves" to preserve a break or prevent premature start of 14.

But when the wheels started turning, the system marked that time as a potential Drive Time Start point. Once you do breach any of several thresholds, the system will "commit" the Drive Time back to when the wheels started turning.

This is by design and the way ALL ELD's should work but each system will have a different internal (coding) way of going about this

Well everyone who claimed soon as Elog was mandated they are done. Your bluff has been called. Deal with it. Your not going anywhere, quit the crying and moaning, and get down the road already. :biggrin_25523:

Between jobs. Left a place that insisted upon PeopleNet. Went to a place I can stay on paper any time I'm within the 8 days in 30 exemption.

So once you stop for more than 3 seconds it will wait for 5 minutes off non-motion..

When will an electronic logging device (ELD) automatically start to record a driving mode or status?

An ELD must automatically switch to driving mode once the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) is moving up to a set speed threshold of five miles per hour. As a result, the in-motion state must not be configured greater than five miles per hour. The vehicle will be considered stopped once its speed falls to zero miles per hour and stays at zero miles per hour for three consecutive seconds.

ELDs use the following Duty Status categories:

Driving An ELD automatically switches to driving status once the vehicle is moving at a speed of no more than five miles per hour.
On-Duty Not Driving When the vehicle has not been in motion for five consecutive minutes, the ELD will prompt the driver to confirm driving status or enter the proper status. If the driver doesn’t respond within one minute, the ELD will automatically switch to on-duty not driving.
Off-Duty The driver should indicate off-duty status for non-driving on-duty periods or must edit and annotate the record later. Periods of authorized personal use (see Special Driving Categories, below) may also be considered off-duty time.
Sleeper Berth The driver should indicate sleeper berth status for sleeper berth periods or must edit and annotate the RODS later.

That's one scenario but the 5 minutes may vary depending on provisioning. Another is, the user can switch to another status while stopped [other than Drive] to save the "Non Drive" status and switch to the other and effectively clear the "Drive Time Start flag". Another scenario is if the engine is turned off for x seconds, this will save the current Non-Drive status
