Is anyone out there running a 280wb tractor with a 53' Tridem Deck.Trying to work out if I can get away with this running Eastern Canada to Ontario as long as we are under the 23m (75') max length . We have no problems currently with a 48' setup.

RTSAIM, do you slide your tandems forward or are they fixed? Standard Canadian spread or US 10' 1" spread?
-
set to max wheelbase on closed tandem with 36" dont remember 12..m?? 5th wheel two invhes ahead of center line 282 wheel base 379 bumper to bumper 22.99 m and within overhang limits.

This is the SPIF regs for your truck combination. Your two inches to the wheelbase limit, so if you were dedicated enough you could slide the fifth wheel forward so the kingpin to centre is 11.87 metres.

Battleship you have that wrong. The only thing moving the 5th wheel forward will do is change 1. Overall Length.
The trailer wheelbase (11.) is measured from the trailer kingpin to the center of the trailer axle group. So if the axle group on trailer is on a slider we can move them forward as far as possible thereby shortening the wheelbase allowing the use of a longer wheelbase tractor.
I have never seen a deck with a tridem slider on it but you definitely see them on dry vans. -
The new regs are very poorly worded. If you want to, you can get 63000 kg with a tandem truck and a four axle pup wagon.

Most of ours were.

The other thing you could do is put a kingpin set further back until your legal

Or have two kingpin settings; we had several of those too. Mostly they were for switching between tandem and tridem drive tractors.
