I've got a family depending upon me making it home alive...and that isn't going to happen putting myself in the ditch unnecessarily, totalling out my truck, and possibly killing myself. I've always said if somebody is going to die and I have anything to say about it, it ain't gonna be me or anyone I care about. I'll sleep just fine at night knowing I'm still around to care for my family.

That's an easy one. The elog would have caused the driver to wedge his truck in between the road and a nearby low bridge, thereby allowing the cops to keep the driver busy while the train safely derails and lands on the highway.
-
You mean today's elogs signals drivers when something is about to happen?
-
In a way, yes. Whenever something is about to go horribly wrong, the elog causes the driver to shut down his brain, take a completely random turn, and mash his throttle.
-
Interesting technology has come along way but who's to say this driver was elog equipped.According to many news sites the engineer was warned way ahead of time about the 30 mph curve.
-
Nah, elog would've had him shut down on the ramp 5 miles back because he ran out of hours and couldn't make it to the truck stops at the next exit up the road...therefore he wouldn't have been there for the train to fall onto.
