True that. However, as you get to know a given route you'll often discover "little gems" of places to stop where you can have an undisturbed night's sleep with nobody else around. Some of my best nights have been watching the sun set over the mountains while having dinner, then hearing nothing but crickets and coyotes at night. Not an idling truck anywhere. I absolutely love running the west.

Just to echo what has been said the roads are smaller, LOTS more 4-wheelers and they are hella rude, very rarely will they let you into their lane. Easy to end up on a restricted route. LOW bridges. The merge lanes and acceleration lanes are perfect for a bughatti or lambo but an 18 wheeler it’s dangerous as all hell and extremely stressful. After coming out of Newark, nj today during the holiday traffic I was ready to collapse.
