what more evidence do you need that CRST is a crap company with substandard pay the guy kept working till 86 and now wants to spend time with his family, how sad
drvrtech77 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
That's a BS post
I bet you don't know one thing about that driverOldironfan and tinytim Thank this. -
ELDS making the roads safer. Old, experienced, safer drivers leaving & a "new breed" coming in. That'll show'em.Oldironfan, tinytim and x1Heavy Thank this.
-
Not necessarily.
I'll show you sad. I had a life time to be with the mother (Divorced from my father etc long story...) and I could count on both hands maybe the few times I managed to park the semi and go get dinner and a stay with them. They were good hosts. She was killed early in life by a undiagnosed bacterial infection totally different than what the learned medical minds thought was the "Matta" SHE has been dead 30 years prior to death in this life having had her spirit crushed back in the 60's
If a man understood his eventual morality and quit something he loves so much to spend the last few tick tocks with family and loved ones, I would be ahead of him clearing the road to get him home.Oldironfan and tinytim Thank this. -
That's probably the biggest issue with ELD. I know more than one very experienced driver who's having a real hard time adjusting to the electronic device.
86 years old, 5.2 million miles without incident. Good job.Oldironfan, x1Heavy and Jazz1 Thank this. -
47 years with CRST no doubt he had a decent run. Good for him!
Many of these mega's that are constantly berated surely have numerous lifers with a decent job they are content with. -
I think a lot of them do. There are three megas that use part of our yard for a drop yard...repowers, temporary storage, staging for load-outs whatever.
We see a lot of the same drivers year after year. The ones who stay with the megas are usually older guys. with quite a bit of experience.
When they move a trailer in or out they have to fill out a little form for our records. We also have a coffee pot that never runs dry and there might even be a few donuts if they get there early enough. I talk to the guys sometimes and they're usually a pretty stable and settled bunch. Most of them run regional and a couple of them live here in town. We generally don't allow tractor parking...big zoning flap about what constitutes a truck stop and too long and tiresome to go into... but they've been around so long they're like part of our crew. They're usually home at least every other weekend.
I'm not saying there isn't a lot of truth in what we hear about the megas being bad places to work. I sure wouldn't want to do it. It's just that for some guys it's a good fit. -
47 years, 5.2 million miles that indeed is a blessing.
