Anyone know a way to plan your own route, but have it displayed on a GPS or Tablet? I know there are some rather convoluted ways to do this on some GPS devices, just wondering if there is any software or apps that are purpose built for custom routes? I rarely trust the GPS, and it takes me just as much time to verify the GPS route as it would to make my own....

    Thanks yall!

And Garmin has "Base Camp" but either one you'll probably find to be more trouble then worth with all but the most complex routes [for trucking purposes]

Put various stop points along the route you want to take

That's probably as good a way as any other (using an external program then pushing to the device as a custom trip) either way you end up with multiple waypoints that become meaningless and confusing as you add more.

Most gps devices will let you select frim multiple route suggestions. I would have to question why none of those are close starting with did you set the routing preferences to match what you're actually doing? Generally I only need to route through one intersection. Occasionally I force a route by adding a stop at a truck stop on the route I want. Sometimes I just take the route I want and the gps adjusts accordingly.

The biggest problem run into is truck restrictions. Like past the entrance to the truck stop or customer is restricted but the gps thinks intersection to intersection is. Often mine thinks the bridges over the interstate next ti truck stop are. It generally it thinks medians can't be crossed except at cross roads. So there's a few specific things where I just ignore it. No, I'm just going to cross that overpass and take the sb entrance rather than nb, turn around and come back. Once sb on the interstate it's fine.

It boggles my mind it's almost 2018 and there still isn't a gps device that's in the same league as what I started with in 2008...Microsoft Streets and trips with the truckstops plus add-on.

Good God it was so simple to drag custom routes with one click or even better right click and draw a box to avoid areas.

It used to be that simple.

The latest copilot can't seem to do that anymore. They've also taking out the settings for shortest route or practical route. It's now set for shortest.

I used to recomment copilot but i can't recommend it anymore.

Give me an updated maps version of streets and trips on a 10" tablet with a truckers atlas and I'd be as happy as could be.
