Fellow Averitt Express drivers I've never had to use the card because I usually fill up at one of our facilities. I'm in need of a fill up now. I remember them telling me there was an extra step when using their gas card. Can someone describe the gas card procedure for me.

    Gasoline?

There should be a company handbook inside your paperwork that they gave you at orientation. This is not the time to be running out of fuel.

you will need to send in a mac 14 and make sure you get the amount of fuel you want on the card. (I usually ask for 500.00) once they send a msg saying it's there, then go to the fuel island...

slide your card... if at a pilot it will ask for your rewards card next.
next, type in your unit number... truck number with the letter T in front. ( I.E. T14678)
it'll ask for fuel type and if you want DEF
then it asks for hub reading... (Mileage entered)
once that's done... follow the rest of the steps (yes/no/skip) then fuel away

you do not need to get the fuel receipt as it's electronic with the comdata card, so no need to go inside if you don't want to. If you want to, or your FM says to, then go for it.

Thanks. I think this may have been my worst day as a driver to date. I started driving in late February so I didn't have any experience with driving in below freezing/snowy conditions.. Well due to my inexperience I went through 3 trailers today and spent my entire day broken down. Apparently you're not supposed to set your trailer brakes when it's cold out. I found out the hard way. I look at it as you can never learn if you don't mess up.

A lot of people don’t know about the trl brakes. Also know your tires can be hot if you park too fast after driving all day. Then those hot tires melt the ice underneath them. Which then refreezes lol

I also forgot to mention that if your going to be shutting down at a place that is below freezing, you might want to get some anti gel as well, if you don't have any in the truck... you can get some from Averitt as well, but READ THE BOTTLE! the stuff they give you is enough for 300 gallons.

While your at it... also get:
    - Spare set of wiper blades
    - Spare light bulb or 2
    - A gallon of oil and coolant (I keep 2 ea.)
    - Straps (Load locks just plain suck)

If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
