Glitch, it may have been your particuliar FM that was the problem. As a company policy they strongly urge you to run legally.

However as was stated it is your responsibility to look over the preplan do the math and see if you have the time and available hours to get the load there on time legally. If you accept the preplan, guess what, now it's your baby. If you turn down a load because it wasn't feasible to run legally no one should give you any grief over it and if they did you could always bring the matter up with their supervisor.

If this Ryan guy was really forcing you to accept a load you told him upfront
you couldn't deliver legally you should've went over his head. But I doubt you did it. My 9 months experience of driving for TA tells me you're not telling the whole story.

I was never pressured to run illegal. And I've heard a lot of guys saying they aren't given enough time to get their loads to the consignee on time legally. I also found the same people that said that were terrible trip planners ran a lot of out of route miles and frankly weren't cut out for this line of work. I ran just about every kind of hot load TA has including a lot of Fed-ex through the night runs as well as hot 3M loads. I usually had several hours to spare. Then I'd overhear another driver saying the exact same run was impossible to make legally.

Y'all might be able to fool someone else, but I've heard this pitch from your kind before. Glitch, I really hope you can find a career you like and are good at.

(go ahead and punch another wall, or better yet attack me)

Yeah, when I worked there I got a few of those too. You're supposed to pick up by 0800 and they send you the plan at 1300. Those are recovery loads. What I always did was reject the plan with the explanation " appt time window expired". Then they would send me a msg saying that's fine just do your best to get there when you can. Then once I had that as proof over the qcom I would run it. You have to CYA. So you reject it initially, get them to respond in a way so you don't get hung with a service failure and then take the assignment. I've never had a service failure in my career.

Sorry but this is not a correct statement. Both the carrier and the driver are required to run legal.

When a driver gets inspected by the D.O.T. they are given a paper on the inspection results and are required to give it to the carrier and have it sent in within 15 days being signed by both the carrier and the driver.

The driver pays fines and may be put out of service but the company also gets points assigned to them when their drivers are found with violations.

The amount of points can put the company under more scrutiny and or get them shut down and have adverse consequences to their insurance or obtaining freight.

I worked for TA twice myself. First time as a team, and we got 2200-3000 a week AS A TEAM!! :mmad: You can get that driving solo!! After being promised more miles the NEXT week...we stayed one week too long. They say they love teams in that company, then when you quit they tell you its not really a team company. They need to make up their mind!! The whole time there was 4 months. 2nd time there, I went solo. Stayed out 2 weeks at a time and the funny thing about getting home is I would ALWAYS be in the Chicago area or around it, and dispatch always said there wasn't any freight up to Janesville to get me home. But would want to send me out to Ohio, KY, TN, then home 3-4 days after you were supposed to be home. This was each and every time. The other trick they LOVE to do is have you sit for close to 22 hours, then dispatch you out asap so they don't have to pay layover pay. It's a big trick they do--and did it to others besides me. Very beyond annoying as it messes with your sleep when you call asking for a load, dispatch tells you hold on--will be sending something soon.....and it goes like this for hours. You don't sleep thinking you will be rolling, then get the load 22-23 hours later. Sucks!! The mileage also was never ever there. heard freight is slow, there's nothing in this area, and oh I have a hot load..can you drive it 200 miles for me...and you end up sitting 200 miles away for another 23 hours. I figured driving solo I would get more miles than driving team. Average miles was 1500-1800 a week and that was without turning down even a short 75 mile run that I took just to get SOMETHING. I never turned down anything unless my hours were totally not there. That was a rarity tho. I think once in a 3 month period that happened. So......you want no miles? Try out this company. It's small, terminals are nice, trucks are nice, but they know how to smile and lie better than the best out there. Very deceiving place to work. But as with all companies, you have those that like them and those that don't. I guess its finding out where you want to be and what you want out of a truck company.

im working for t/a now, they dont force me to run illegal, i make good money, if i cant legally do the load on time i reject it, they have never given me any grief for doing so. if the can rearrange the load in order for me to do it on time then they give it back to me. it must of been your fleet manager. i have no problems with mine. i think if u read through other threads youll see that transport america has more good post than bad. im sorry your experience with t/a was a bad one.
