At first I thought you was going to say deer horn.In this case I would say not smart deer's but very lucky it was you who saw them.Anyone else would have probably hit them.I always use extra caution at night.

 

Strange you say that. I recently thought I’ve seen more dead deer on the road in the past year than I have for the past ten years. Might just be because I am driving more, but seems like I am seeing road deer kill almost daily right now.

 

I laughed out loud.

 

Deer usually train themselves in certain cases. When logging is going on they know the noisy machines are dropping dinner on the ground. Then when machines are quiet it's dinner time.

 

From being a deer hunter I can give everyone a tiny bit of advice. If you can see the deer in advance and they are just standing there eating, you should be good. If their heads are down and suddenly they pick their head up, be on high alert. Something has scared the deer and he or she can be unpredictable. I saw one eating and about 400 yards in front of me he suddenly picked up his head. I immediately got on the air horn to go ahead and scare him and get whatever reaction he would have out of him before I passed. He jumped, and darted right back across the road in front of me, about 150 feet or so. Try to scare them if they are alerted far enough ahead of you because its when they get scared last second and dart in front of you that you hit them.

 

Maybe we should hire deer crossing guards
