Not an inexpensive endeavor, and then throw in the monthly fees... Cell carriers are making a killing... One of those follow the money moments.

I read As long as they are within a 50 mile radius they are compliant

Real time please. Wasn’t please with the ones already in the ELOGS

Way to pricey Man. Ouch for RealJustrucking2 Thanks this.

What’s the monthly fee per unit?
-
$50 for the Omnitracs, that is just per unit per truck, no clue on the back office charge, I am sure there is a fee there too... $$$$$$$$$ Great racket if you can get in on it. The units are old tech, slow as an old PC and navigation software from a 2008 vintage Tom Tom.Cat sdp Thanks this.

You are way off on that.
On-duty accuracy is 1 mile. Off duty accuracy is 10 miles.
What is the level of precision for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) location information recorded by an electronic logging device (ELD)?
During on-duty driving periods, the location accuracy is approximately within a 1-mile radius. When a driver operates a CMV for personal use, the position reporting accuracy would be approximately within a 10-mile radius. -
For them we are paying $35 per truck per month, the other units it is about $20 a month.
I have checked out a lot of these units and they seem to all have a back office requirement. I wouldn't mind having the units just email me the log files directly to me and bypass all the bs with the back office but this is where they make the money. Keeping logs for 6 months to a few years is really not hard, I still have all my logs from when I was on the road on one cd and that cd has a lot of space left on it.Cat sdp Thanks this. -
How does the unit track within a mile when you are out of range of cell towers for a good portion of your day?
