How often do you move a $200-$300 load?

Just wondering how often everyone moves a $200-300 load? They seem to be everywhere and most popular on Monday mornings.

I think I move them across town(less than 25 miles) about 3 times a year.

Never, my minimum charge is $500 and then only if I have something lined up for the same day after.

Thats about where I am too. I'll move something each day less than 200 miles for $500-$600.
I guess a lot of mega company drivers move the $200 loads? But then again only making 40 cents per mile how could that be any good?

Never. $200-$300? That's crazy to tie your truck up on that I don't care how far it goes or how quick. Used to be $500 was my minimum but that's almost as crazy so I quit that too. Those loads are a distraction. Nothing under a $1,000 and really always looking to book $1,500 or more daily. I don't look back at possible missed $500 loads with any sort of regret or wish I coulda's. There was one yesterday going 30 miles. They moved it too. There's always somebody happy to work for peanuts and I say knock yourself out. While that one was getting loaded and moving I was busy booking/getting one that paid much better.

I think the cheapest one I've ever actually moved came up to $790 for 117 miles. And the next day I backed it up with a $1,400 load so I no problem making my daily average. Like I said earlier I will pull a $500 load assuming I've got something else right behind it picking up the same day that can also help out with that daily/weekly average.
But I agree with you was a general rule of thumb it still has to be $1,000 a day when it's all said and done.

When it's cold like it is, we move loads for $200. But, it's 18 miles, no people to deal with. Just load, drive, unload, rinse and repeat. Whole trip takes about 2 hours if one hustles. Usually do five a night.

850 to 950 minimum or she sits. If I had some dedicated stuff I would lower that a tad.

Why don't brokers post the pathetic rates? Is receiving call after call only to hear the same answers something they enjoy?

Sometimes I just hang up as soon as I hear the really low rates.

How are the rates? Have they change much since the Eld come out. Someone posted they are getting $3 out of Florida.

I know we don't drag the same wagons, but our short hauls are money makers for us. Last week we had a 12 mile haul from the plant to the well. Our minimum charge is $400. In one legal 14 hour shift all the drivers got 4 loads except for one. He got 5.

So that truck made $2,000 while putting 120 miles on it. And half those miles are empty. I'll take the short ones over the long ones any day in this line of work. Of course I know we get loaded faster and unloaded faster (usually) than most other types of trucking and that's really what makes it work so well.
