Does anyone know anything about the 2000 Cummins ISX 475 engine. It's in a 2000 Freightliner that I'm wanting to buy but I've heard so many bad things about the newer ISX's that I'm hesitant to buy something that will have a lot of expensive problems down the road.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Do your due diligence on the truck like you would on any truck and make sure it is worth the asking price. Don't worry about the engine, it is a good one.

Was that your engine or the transition models coming from the n14 over to the N15?

The seller is asking under $10k so I figure it should be worth it. Transmission was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago and motor only has 550,000 miles on it. Only used on a farm.

Why they rebuilt transmission at 540,000 miles?

"Farm truck" means pulled heavy loads and in mud sometimes. Transmission get tortured but engines are usually kept up and being farm trucks are 50% empty haul engines last.

What is N15? After n14 is ISX, and x15 now.

It is ISX the one after n14 . It has the egr ( which has been disconnected about 1 million miles ago)

Sorry I was looking for X 15. Slip of the keyboard. The reason I was wondering is I've got two thousand and two n14, I was wondering if this particular engine my 2000 was maybe an intermediate between the two. I will admit for all my years of doing this I don't very little about Cummins engines.
