    The rates are horrible. Most of us are only getting a dollar a mile, hauling dog food, water & lumber.

    New emmission trucks are horrible too, they break down at 100k miles, insurance rates are at least 25k a year and elogs really suck.

    Oh, and California is to blame for it all. So, it's a horrible time to get into this business.

    I like clean air.
    And the clean diesels are a lot more reliable now. Sure we had the learning curve to deal with but anyone that has left Los Angeles heading up toward Hesperia can notice the giant difference in pollution in the last 12 years.

    This still happens. I ran a lot of pipe from Baltimore to Mt. Hope WV. I always fueled at sheets, and sometimes shut down there. Trucks seem to come and go non stop. Spend an extra 3 minutes at the fuel island and a spot will open!

    There is a Sheetz in Walkersville and another in Manassas on 15.(This one you don't set too long but they love trucker coffee...)

    I don't have Sheetz here in this far west and south, I might order a case of their coffee soon.
