Liquid bulk OTR, smooth bore tankers they look like they all came off of a Mad Max movie set. With van starting out you'd get more miles but less per mile rate, probably end up the same first year. I just wanted to pull tankers, it's like riding a motorcycle down the road with 45k lbs of liquid rolling around in a 35k lb rig...

Paper mills, power plants, refineries, paint plants, glue plants, when bulk shows up nobody messes with you, there's not a lot of jacking around to do dealing with chemicals and flammables.

I think you did exactly what I am going to be doing myself. Pay for CDL myself, get out of Active Duty and go straight into Trucking and after all my research, I have determined that Melton is for the most part the best starting choice. After your time there, do you have an Average Miles per week with the company? How good are they at keeping you moving?

I am retired , use you GI Bill , let that pay for school at a community college, school is about 8 weeks on average , but in the end you will have. CDL with tank , haz, combination , even passenger if they have it . You will not owe anyone for your school.
Lots of CO will higher you under a training program , not attached to a contract because they did not send you to school . Just tell the company you apply to , how long your school was and ask if your school was approved by them.

Watch out for these scam, ers who claim they have discounts for veterans buying trucks, even the ones advertising in landline magazine

The veteran discount only applies on certain trucks, the ones that have the raised prices on them. They jack up the price and then give the “discount” to the regular price.

You better off going to a private CDL school. You learn more than from a company school plus you can quit if company does not work out.
