Gates makes pulleys, around $20 to $30, simply install. It is normally the pulley bearing that fails... And that is nomally due to either age, or a bad harmonic DAMPER. Replace your DAMPER if you have over 500,000 miles on the motor.![]()
N14 fan belt came loose

I'm gonna guess that the OP has a Volvo. Unlike most N14 in other trucks they used a serpentine setupHopeOverMope Thanks this.

^^^^Ignore my reply. It's evident my reading skill suck this evening!

I agree...replace the tensioner...

Yup, volvo. I was just concerned about it being Sunday and not being able to source the part. I'm at home. But most (all) of the places are closed, no fleetpride or truckpro. I got TA about 70 miles from here though, so maybe I can pop the old one off and match it up with them.
Yeah I probably could of caught this one, but it looks off alignment now when I lined the belt up...
Thanks for all the repliesLast edited: Jan 7, 2018
Bakerman Thanks this. -
Just got the tensioner off, time to ride out and buy an overpriced tensioner from TA. The pulley(?) looks real chewed up
This is my first time working on a tensioner actually.
Well I have adjusted tension on my a/c belt, alternator and water pump belts but they have a different tension system
I see where the square 1/4 inch (I believe) spot is to release and restore tension. Hope to have this fixed tonightLast edited: Jan 7, 2018
