My company recently switched to ELD'S, the logbook works great but we can't do a pretrip electronically we have to do it on paper. I can go on duty and say i'm doing a pretrip but there no place to verify truck, trailer, and what was checked. Is it legal to still do this part on paper.

You don’t have to show anything as long as you log a pre trip

As there is both no legal requirement and no paperwork requirement to do a pretrip, yes it's legal.
Just go on duty, and if you really, really want to put in a comment of doing a pti. The do the pti, and start your day.Studebaker Hawk Thanks this. -
DVIR is no longer required on electronic logs.... This was changed a couple years ago
Unless there is a defect and then yes you can fill out a paper DVIR. -

The JJ Keller system allows us to do a DVIR, but very difficult to pull it back up to show anyone. And the other surprising thing we were informed by our Keller rep was the only thing required in the remarks section of the grid is the location at change of duty. Our company policy is to indicate what we did( drop and hook, fuel, pti etc) during a period of on duty, but those comments are not legally required. We found that out when you flip to the Roadside Inspection mode on the Keller system, none of our carefully entered remarks ( fuel, pti etc) show up. So the officer will never see them, just blank spaces like we ignored the procedure. Nor can he ask about them, according to the Keller rep taking care of our account.
Moving Forward and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
