Yes this works well plus Swift is well known for offering better mile loads when you are asking for home time. You can turn their little trick back on them.

I was fortunate to have a long time driver tell me in the early days, "Learn the system so you can work the system.". Gaming their system is not against their rules simply because there's, obviously, no "rule" against it.

Here's another tip. Your home terminal can be any terminal nationwide. You can request any terminal but its good to schmooze the terminal manager where you want to go. (You can still request hometime at your real home and, by their rules, the planners are obligated to get you there. Eventually.) Some are dead holes of no freight grief: Denver. Some look like good freight hubs, Lancaster, TX (DFW), but are shuttle hubs and OTR gets the crap leavings. Some will always put you in places that challenge you with things as simple as where you'll sleep tonight: Jonestown, PA.

You need to seek out and talk to experienced owner operators who are running older trucks because they've figured out where to run to be profitable which involves consistent freight, year round. Very experienced company drivers will also help you as well. A good terminal with a good driver manager will help you stay in those places.

Dumb ###! How many times I got to tell you where the money AND the comfort is. Although I woke up to 7° last week in Atmore. It was much more pleasant yesterday.

Went from Greer to Fort Mill, SC up to Elk Grove Village, then Romeoville to Brighton, CO. Will unload tomorrow and grab a can load from Golden to Fort Worth. Money this week is good.

Laredo. I'm here for a week moving into my new place in Encinal. I'm no longer a homeless truck driver! Time for steak and alcohol.

Definitely right about Jonestown. Sent my Mac 10 on New Year’s Day with “Happy New Year!” in the comments — got a load going to Long Island stacked with a pickup the same day in New Jersey that went to Chicago. Guess somebody’s new year hadn’t started so well.

A few years ago I got a bit of heat for my reason for declining a hot mess like that with, "Next time send some KY.".

Well I got lucky with a load to Eagan, MN that was scheduled to deliver Friday at 1800.
Then it was rescheduled for delivery on Monday at 1800, which is tomorrow.
And the load can not be t-called, so I'm stuck with it over the weekend.

    Did I say lucky?

It is just a few miles from home, so I'm spending the weekend here at home.
The bonus money came in Friday's paycheck, so I had the cash to get a new 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD for my new computer, to replace the 128GB SATA SSD it came with.
My middle daughter, Leann, just flew in on Thursday to live with us, so I was able to get some extra time with her.
And I'm getting layover pay for the extra time imposed on me with this load.

I renewed my CDL 3 weeks ago, and the hard copy came in on Friday as well.
