I'm fortunate not having to venture "up north" in the ice and snow. The recent weather bomb that just went off got me to wondering how much CB communications are affected with the air full of snow and the antennas covered in ice. Any comments?

Wipe a lil wd 40 on ant to "help" with ant ice/snow build up..
Although in another thread i showed how even a tiny bit of melted slush can short out an ant or give you sky rocket high swr WHICH is uber bad for a radio..Atmospheric conditions totally mess with skip but not so much as in trk to trk use..

The weather bomb is not that big of a deal, that just shows a central pressure that falls by a certain amount in a 24 hour period.

Really bad bombs to think about are tornadoes. he he.

Few if any drivers up here in Michigan use their radios, you can tell by the 100 truck pileups we have had over the past few years.

It's true, I run all over the state in good and bad weather, rare to hear anything on the radio, and even rarer to have someone come back to you... Sad, especially in a snow storm.

The correct term is Bombogenesis. Meteorological term. Blame the weather channel for that. Using big words that the masses have no right to consider.
