Taking another swing at it

Long time off out of town + sub zero temps = need a jump to get back rolling.

 

Waiting on my load to southern Texas to deliver Monday. A nice break from this bitter cold. Load won’t be ready until tomorrow

 

So, I stopped at the pilot in Holland today. I got fuel and since a truck was in front of me I ran in to get a cash advance and use the restroom. Real quick in and out. That was the plan anyway.
After flushing my business, I go to unlock the deadbolt. Still locked. I try a few more times. Still locked. I figured the mechanism that controls the lock is disconnected so it won’t work.
I hear water running and flushing, I yell asking for a Phillips screwdriver, so I can get out.
No reply. Nobody wants to interrupt their day to get help.
Before you ask, I’m of an imposing size, and can’t slide under the door of the stall, so no.
It took the courtesy check to finally get maintenance to bring a screwdriver to get out.
At first they tried some kind of master key they use from the outside...I asked them if they thought I was so stupid that I couldn’t figure out how to unlock it. It’s broken. Your key won’t work.
“Oh, I can’t unlock it this way, I’ll need a screwdriver “
Duh.
Great start to the new year. Imprisoned by Pilot for 30 minutes. Contemplating kidnapping charges.

 

In Texas. The weather is nice. I’m already lined up for a backhaul. I have to run up to the house overnight on Friday. Then I’ll grab another load out for the weekend. I’ll be glad when it’s my youngest daughter’s birthday. It’s the 1st day of spring.
