zedanny,
What do you mean by a "dreamer"? Because I think the way I do? Because I want to see drivers paid properly?
Do you not think that there are drivers out there who are paid for all of their on duty time?
I can't wait to hear your reply.

zedanny,
I see you have been on for a while. Why no responce to my post?
Drive safe -
I have been lucky with Roehl. I have been getting more and more loads into Florida the past few months and I get out rather quickly. I run out of Atlanta so I normally head to Florida at least once every time I am out. I think your company has to be willing to use brokers to get you loads out.

zedanny,
Still waiting to hear back from you from my post two days ago. You do have an answer don't you?
Drive safe -
Perhaps Zedanny doesn't want to wake you
from your dream?
panhandlepat Thanks this. -
No, perhaps zedanny does not have an answer for him. In fact, I don't think he does. Way to back your play zedanny.
AfterShock, I don't think he is dreaming. Do you? -
I think RWarren's belief that the monetary compensation for Big truck truck drivers should be more fair.
And that there are truckin' companies that take advantage of their drivers.
But when it comes to that problem ever being solved, and made right,
I think, therein lies the "dream".

Wake up dreamer and welcome to the real world.Been off with the flu sorry. What I mean about being a Dreamer is unless your union 90% of the company's don't even pay you a lay over. I know a lot of them promise you the world but do they actually pay it.
some of them say after 24 hours they will pay you $25 to $50.00 a day but few of them do. If you do lay 24 hours then they will dispatch you to pickup the next day (no pay) they moved you.
There no free buck's unless your a union driver.
Now I have worked for a few good old boy's that said go get you a motel and here's $50.00 but there far and few in between .
I did work for Watkin's motor line's that payed you for every thing you did.
I can count on one hand the company's that payed me layover. and I have worked for many.
Now about Florida I always found it's better to stay the hell out of Fl. unless you are pre planned. There's a lot of freight going in but very little outbound.
Now you all tell me of the company's that will pay you after 8 hours layover.
Beside if a co. layed me around I didn't want to work for them. i always found that if your not rolling you got no business being out there. laying over is home with the family.
I figure a person needs a min. of $200.00 a day to be out there.
If your Company's laying you around look for a good job.Last edited: Dec 8, 2008

074344 Quate -I have no idea about Florida or any other state in the union. Mr. 074344 You must work for one of them company's that don't know your name huh.Hi this is 074344 calling in your gonna have to pay me layover. I don't need a load just pay me layover. If you only truck in Ca. it a lot different in the real world.
If you all believe that crap you are dreamers also. The money is rolling down the road.Last edited: Dec 8, 2008

I would like to be paid for all of my time on duty. I think it is a good dream to have for this to happen some day. I also think the reality is that it is not going to happen for the average driver anytime soon. There are too many companies that do not care and too many drivers that do not care either.
Where I work currently there are about 100 drivers on a dedicated account. You could probably not get more than 5 at anytime to agree on anything, yet make some kind of stand for better work conditions. This is 100 drivers in a company with 1000's so what are the chances of any improvement here? None that I can see. If you do not like it get another job is the answer you will get if you ask for improvement. This said I have been paid detention pay, and extra mile pay on trips. It is not always easy to get, but if it is due me I will persist till I get it. Many people I work with will not even ask for it, they just say oh well I do not want to bother them. They are too worried about losing job or just don't care anyway.
Yes I would like to see better work conditions for drivers and better pay for all work done, but until something big happens it is more than likely just a dream for the majority like myself. The way I see it is that there are no labor laws regulating the pay for trucking like there are for other jobs and industries. The government wants to tell you how long you can work, drive and how much rest you need, but does not care how much or if you even get paid. Just keep the freight moving as cheap as possible.
So if anybody knows of a good company where I can get home daily, have weekends off, make at least 1k a week in central indiana please let me know as that is what I am looking for, but will stay where I am at till something better comes along.zedanny Thanks this.
